The Princes of Gwynedd

Back in April and May, I did a couple of posts about Dunkeswell: War Stories, the fantastic online documentary about a World War II airbase that I helped to create while working for NavMotion (also known as Dream Machine Media). Now I'm pleased to announce that another of the projects I worked on has come to fruition - The Princes of Gwynedd.
The Princes of Gwynedd coincided with another documentary project called Our Heritage, with both films involving the creation of detailed scripts about Welsh history and shooting at a huge number of locations across North-Western Wales. We worked with a variety of partners, including Conwy and Gwynedd councils, CADW, the Snowdonia National Park Authority and The National Trust, and one of my main responsibilities was to research the locations and draft the shooting scripts. I made numerous trips to Wales to scout and research the list of locations we had been given by the various partners, ranging from churches and cathedrals to royal courts and castles.

I had a huge amount of fun on the project, whether it was planning shoots and scripting in our Taunton office or hurtling around Wales with our small crew to shoot in all manner of weather conditions. The camaraderie that exists on a small film crew, particularly one that shares a house together, is immensely motivating and fulfilling: everyone working very hard, and everyone loving what they do. I got to work with our talented narrator Bethan Gwanas, and use my degree training as an historian to tell a fascinating story about Wales' most powerful medieval dynasty.

You can watch the short documentary in full in English here:

Or, if you prefer, you can view it in Welsh here:
Please share these videos with all your friends to encourage them to visit North Wales, to explore these stories and see these marvellous locations for themselves. Also, head over to NavMotion.com for more great content and to see what clickable video can do for you. Enjoy!
