LETTERS OF NOTE: A Farewell to Peanuts

It's been a while since I last posted something from Letters of Note, but this is quite a touching entry that deserves you attention.

In December 1999 Charles Schulz, creator of the beloved comic strip Peanuts, was diagnosed with colon cancer. Feeling that he could no longer cope with the demands of a weekly strip, he wrote an open letter to his hundreds of millions of fans announcing his retirement. Less than two months later, he was dead, and the final strip of Peanuts, on February 13th 2000, carried a message similar to that in his letter.

You can read Schulz' letter and see the last ever strip here. Alternatively, you can watch one of Schulz's last interviews from 1999. You'll struggle not to cry.
